About

Eventide was a zine I edited from 1996 to 2002 or so. There were six issues, of varying sizes; there was a seventh in the works that never made it to print. (Scott Shields was co-editor for the last three of them; we also ran a record label together for much of that time.) This site is an attempt to collect some of the interviews done there and get them online. Eventide started out as a pretty straightforward hardcore zine, and gradually encompassed more genres, and even occasional forays into interviews about politics and filmmaking.

I still listen to a lot of the bands that I listened to then. But because this was a zine that ran from 1996 to 2002, there isn’t a lot of documentation to be found on them these days. This is, in some ways, why I’m doing this: in the hopes that music that I cared (and care) about will remain findable by those who are looking for it.

I’m not planning to post every interview done for Eventide — some haven’t aged that well, and others were done before I really knew how to conduct an interview properly. (Don’t hold your breath waiting for anything from issue 1.)  But over the course of the next few months, I’m hoping to get a lot of my favorites up. Hopefully, some of you will also find them of interest.
